Happy Friday all! Hope your week flew by and that you have nice plans for the weekend ahead. On Saturday I plan to go to the farmer's market here in town to pick up some fresh fruits and veggies, so I'm excited for that shopping trip! Today I wanted to share with you a useful resource I made. It is a weekly menu planner. If you have never planned your weekly menus or don't even know how, I hope you find this useful. Having a weekly menu planner is so beneficial in so many ways.
1. Save On Groceries
If you plan your meals a week ahead, you can easily shop the sales and make sure to buy all of your groceries when they are on sale. Plus it reduces you having to rush out to the store to buy that ingredient you don't have, and have to pay it at full price. What I usually do is read the flyers - I see what meats, fruits or veggies are on sale. I write these items down in my notepad. Then, looking at what is on sale and through some recipe books, I come up with meals I can make for the week ahead. Then I buy them, all in one trip usually, and am ready for the week ahead! This is a great way to stay organized, keep track of what you eat, and avoid any unneeded costs.
2. The "What's For Dinner" Dilemma
I don't usually have these issues since I have no little kids running around, but I do try to get into this habit so that I STAY in this habit when I do have little ones one day. If you have kids, you can allow them to be part of your meal planning so that they feel involved in the decision process and they are most likely to eat what you make. They will be happy since they will feel special to be part of the process, and you'll be happy to know that they are eating healthy.
3. More Variety on the Plate
By laying out what you will make the week ahead, you avoid eating the same ol' thing every.single.night. Yeah sure we all have times when we would whip up the most easiest and convenient of foods, but when you have your mind set on what you will make that day you most likely will be ready to make it and won't lazy out on it. Pus, you see on paper what you are really eating.
So, to help you with your menu planning this year, feel free to download the PDF or JPEG I made. I will be sharing with you some tips on my cooking and baking organization next week! Until then, Print it, share it, pin it! Enjoy!
